Rob Elgas Visits RAM Students

by Travis Lang

The former Crystal Lake Central Tiger, Rob Elgas, is the latest celebrity to stop by Prairie Ridge. On Tuesday, November 15th, the NBC News anchor gave every Rheotorical Analysis of Media class a speech on what it is like to be a broadcast journalist.

Elgas commented on things like what time he must wake up every morning and the hardships he went through trying to live his dream.

Unfortunately, his speech was cut short by a sudden ring of the fire alarm. However, outside of the school, he still mingled with students and asked us questions like what colleges we plan on attending and what our career goals are, then gave us advice on how to achieve those goals.

Senior Jake Schuler, commented on Rob Elgas’ presentation by saying, “It was cool to see someone famous at PR. He had an interesting story, and it was cool that he was from our home town of Crystal Lake.

Jake was one of a handful of students who stayed and listened to Elgas in the theatre after the fire alarm situation was over. Even then, the D155 grad took more time out of his day to answer students’ questions.
